Anglesey Amlwch to Cemaes Bay

A trip to Anglesey and we got good weather. I'm not happy about my halti but I've learnt to suffer in silence (just keep doing nose ploughs).

Didn't take long to get to Bull Bay and he met us there to give her a biscuit (what about me?)

We rounded a headland and saw the remains of a brickworks across the bay

(Porth Wen). Would I get to go in the sea?

No! We didn't go to the beach but started to climb the other side. Then we dropped down lots of steps to Hell's Mouth. Then we climbed up lots of steps (after waiting for a party of old people going the other way).

Then we headed for this old look out tower (when an invasion was expected) and continued round the headland. I could guess what was coming next - more steps. This time we dropped down to an old porcelain works at Porth Llanlleiana where there were more ruins (and not just her when she saw the steps up the other side.

And so it continued - up and down until we finally met him sat on a rock at the top of another hill.

We continued as a family all the way to a church at Llanbadrig where we left the path and joined a road. She wanted to pick blackberries but he wanted to get back (and so did I) so we continued down towards the town with views of Wylfa Power Station over the water.

Finally we reached Cemaes Bay carpark and a welcome drink of water. Then a walk into the village for them to eat lunch before going home. I'm getting the hang of this now. One day we'll be back!

Penmon Point to Pentraeth beach

We're back on Anglesey and he's joining us for the first bit through these paths between wild flowers and by the high walls of the priory fields. I'm still trying to get this off my nose but nobody's taking any notice of me. Through the gate there's views of the mountains of Eryri and more sheep with lambs. Then he heads back to the car part (and a coffee) while we continue along lanes passing more fields and houses. We pass a herd of belted Galloways who had a lovely view of the sea looking back from where we'd come from. We passed lots of gorze bushes (with the scent of coconut) and eventually dropped down fields and steps to reach the rocky sea shore. Luckily the path went along a lane for a while until the signpost led us to the shore path which was clear. I wasn't happy walking along the decking but that was better than walking along the top of the wall that seemed to last for miles. We got to the end and then I saw him coming towards us. Only ano...

Aberdaron to another Towyn

It started very well with a rabbit in the path but I wasn't able to follow it so continued along the path by a stream until we came to a road. No sign of the sea yet. We crossed fields of cows, a bull and lots of sheep. Then we reached the top of the cliffs and I had to take care - narrow path, steep drop down to the sea and gusts of wind. Looking back we could see Aberdaron in the far distance. Looking forward we could see the hill we had to climb over to reach Ian. Before we reached that mountain, we got lost! She did find an interesting building that was once a mine working but had to walk cross country to find the road we should have been on. I kept a look out so we didn't get lost again. Then we reached the top and there were horses. We had lunch (I stole her sandwich!) then continued down hill and found Ian who'd cycled up the road. He went back on the road and we walked down to a cafe where...

Red Wharf Bay to Amlwch

We're away for three days though we don't reach Red Wharf Bay until lunch time and then we have to walk all the way round to the pub on the shore before stopping for something to eat. Nice and sunny there with loads of people trying to park. Then he goes back to the car so we continue towards Moelfre. Now this may be a coast path but it's far from level. We were up and down steps and slopes in the woods after Benllech Bay but we kept up the pace and enjoyed the views and smells. She was so busy looking at plants, I had to keep waiting for her. Then we saw our destination on the far side of a beach. Nearly there! Well not quite. But when we did reach Moelfre they went to a cafe for tea and cake (nothing for me). We then drove to Amlwch where they'd booked a hotel for two nights - dog friendly of course. The next day he joined us for the first part of the walk towards the old lighthouse in Moelfe.
